Poetry (???) fragments
in which I try something new
#1
Where were you
When I was so young and full of promise that
I could not see myself?
And the still small voice
Echoed
As the answer rippled
Love
#2
I would have wept for love of you;
but instead I swallowed my grief
— this dark bitter medicine
(medicine is good for you) —
so that others wouldn’t worry.
They met my clear-eyed gaze,
gazed upon my snow-white face
(the medicine is so effective)
and called me:
Witch
#3
Our fate was written in the stars
Which cruelly separated me from you
Until: exhausted by my weeping from afar
The birds took pity on us two
And formed the bridge
That let us meet.
#4
Your smile was so free and unconstrained,
That - like the quality of mercy - it fell as
Soft as the plum rain,
A mist so fine that I could not distinguish
Between the rain and your tears.
Hello friends! I’ve never been a big poetry person and so have no way to judge if these lines that popped into my brain at random times are good or bad. But now, I’m interested in reading more poetry so if you have any collections to recommend, please send them my way! So far, I’ve found that I really enjoy TS Eliot’s Four Quartets.
